GOALS AND OBJECTIVES                                                                       EA

           

The business operations of the school are essential yet auxiliary to the School’s central function of education.  The Board serves as trustee of school facilities and supervisor of school business operation for the purpose of providing the facilities and services supporting the educational program.  In the operation and maintenance of the school facility, equipment and services, the School shall maintain high standards of safety, promote the health of students and staff, and support the efforts of the staff to provide good instruction.

The school properties in good physical condition, safe, clean, sanitary and as comfortable and convenient as the facilities will permit or requires. 

 

SAFETY PROGRAM                                                                                   EBB

 

The Board shall make every effort to prevent accidents from occurring by taking all reasonable precautions to protect the safety of all students, equipment, visitors, and those present on school property or at school sponsored events.  It is the responsibility of the Emergency Management Team to assure the safety of children while under the supervision of school employees.  The staff shall adhere to recommended safety practices as they pertain to the school facility, special areas of instruction, student transportation, school sports, occupational safety, etc.  The practice of safety shall also be considered an aspect of the instructional program of the School, and instruction to accident prevention as well as fire prevention, emergency procedures, traffic, bicycle, and pedestrian safety shall be provided in the appropriate classes.  The Emergency Management Team shall see that appropriate staff members are kept informed of current state and local requirements relating to fire prevention, civil defense, sanitation, public health, and occupational safety.

Fire prevention measures in the schools shall be administered in compliance with safety codes. The Emergency Management Team shall be responsible for seeing that all staff members and others in charge of the safety of personnel and school property be kept informed of current state regulations and the recommendations of the local fire officials.

Security Guards shall be responsible for the security of the buildings during their shifts. 

 

VANDALISM PROTECTION                                                                     EBCA

 

Parents are reminded that Board regulations state that parents are liable for any damage to school property incurred by their children whether during or after school hours or in the vacation weeks.  Every citizen of the school area and students are urged by the Board to cooperate in reporting any incidents of vandalism to property belonging to the school and the name(s) of the person or persons believed to be responsible.  The Superintendent is authorized to sign a criminal complaint and to press charges against perpetrators of vandalism against school property, and is further authorized to delegate, as seen fit, authority to sign such complaints and to press charges.

The school will maintain all facilities in the School in good repair according to budget. 

                                                                       

LEASING AND RENTING OF BUILDING OR GROUNDS                  EBH

 

Use of School Facilities must be prior approved by the Superintendent.  Lease agreement and deposits are required prior to usage.

 

EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES RECORDS                                               ECG

 

The Classroom Teachers shall ensure that proper records are kept on all textbooks, class materials, and classroom supplies. The Coaches are responsible for the uniforms, equipment and inventory during use. The inventory lists for extra curricular activities will be on file with the Athletic Director.

                                                                       

AUTHORIZED USES OF EQUIPMENT                                                    ECH

 

Certain school equipment may be loaned out to school personnel, community and board members by special request to the Superintendent or Business Office.  Such equipment must be signed out through the Business Office.

Borrowers of equipment shall assume the responsibility of returning the equipment in working order.  Borrowers will be charged the cost of replacement or repair of damaged equipment.  Employees are to utilize school facilities, equipment, and materials for school business use only.  The Board realizes that at times the use of school equipment for personal use is necessary.  The Board asks that this be kept to a minimum.  Specific examples include:

1.                  Telephone:  Employees are to refrain from using telephones for personal calls and to inform others that the telephones are for business calls only.  Employees using the telephone for long distance calls are to log them as personal calls and the charge will be deducted from their payroll check.

2.                  Postal Services:  School envelopes, postage, etc. are to be used for school mail only.  Mailboxes for each employee are provided, and employees are to check their mailbox on a daily basis.

3.                  Copier Machines:  Copier machines are to be used for school business only.  Employees using the copier machines for personal use are to pay $.10 per copy to the Business Office.

4.                  Fax Machine:  The fax machine is to be used for school business only.  Employees using the fax machine for personal use are to pay $1.00 per copy to the Business Office.

STUDENT TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT                                 ED

 

The School’s transportation program shall be designed to transport to school those students living an unreasonable walking distance from school and back in an efficient, safe, and economical manner.  The transportation director has the responsibility of all transportation.  All other people engaged in the transportation program are responsible to that administrator.  Other purposes include the provision of transportation for academic field trips in direct support of the curriculum, co-curricular program (athletics), etc.  The criteria for the management of school transportation shall be:

1.                  Adequacy:  Does the program provide both necessary and sufficient transportation to and from school and for all other school programs?

2.                  Safety:  Does the scheduling and operating of the program take into account hazards, potential dangers to students, and all appropriate safeguards?

3.                  Economy:  Is the program operated in the most efficient manner possible after considering the constraints imposed by the criteria of adequacy and safety?

 

Buses can parked at individual homes because of cost effectiveness.

 

SCHOOL-OWNED BUSES                                                                          EDAA

 

Driver Requirements

A.                 Drivers of school buses, both regular and substitute, shall be hired by the Enemy Swim Day School Board.

B.                 To be considered for re-employment for an ensuing school term, bus drivers must be properly licensed having passed all examinations prescribed by the statute and the department of public safety.  Each bus driver will also be required to a biennial physical examination.

C.                 Full-time bus drivers shall be entitled to benefits in accordance with the policy adopted by the Enemy Swim Day School Board.

D.                 All bus drivers shall keep their seat belts fastened while transporting school children.

E.                  All bus drivers, regular or substitute, will be required to sweep and clean their bus after each trip.

F.                  The bus driver will be responsible for all loading and safety regulations the Enemy Swim Day School.  The driver will personally be responsible for all fines and expenses incurred in traffic violations.

G.                 All bus drivers are required to participate in an annual bus driver safety course.

 

Use of School Buses

The primary utilization of school buses in order of priority will be:

1.  Transportation routes to and from school.

The bus routes will be determined by the transportation manager.

School vehicle shall be used specifically for school-sponsored activities and official school business.  All other use is prohibited.

                                                           

ACCIDENT REPORTING – STUDENT TRANSPORTATION              EDG

 

The driver of a school vehicle shall be responsible to reporting to any accident to law enforcement and to the transportation manager.

                                                                       

FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT                                                            EE

 

Enemy Swim Day School shall operate a school food program.  Food Services shall include hot lunches, breakfasts and snack program, through participation in the Child and Adult Nutrition Services.  As required for participation in the Child and Adult Nutrition Services, the school will:

 

1.      That the food service programs operate on a non-profit basis;

2.      All school lunches are provided at no cost.

3.       Follow the Child and Adult Nutrition Services serving guidelines.

The Business Manager shall be responsible for the management of all insurance programs and the safekeeping of policies.

All employees of Enemy Swim Day School are covered by Worker’s Compensation Insurance.

Enemy Swim Day School provides life insurance for employees whom work 30 hours or more. Additional insurance is also available through this group policy at the employee’s expense.

 

                                                                       

HEALTH INSURANCE                                                                               EGAC

 

Enemy Swim Day School provides a group health insurance plan up to $300.00 per month for employees whom work 30 hours or more. The cost for family health coverage is the responsibility of the employee.

Federal regulations state that employee benefits in the form of employer’s contributions or expenses for unemployment insurance coverage as properly provided such benefits are granted under approved plans and are distributed equitably to grant programs and to other activities.

The Board will carry necessary and appropriate property insurance to adequately cover possible losses in the use of its buildings and vehicles.
