TANF/ESDS Community Education Pilot Project
Adult Education Teacher
LOCATION:
POSITION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Working as a team player of the TANF/Enemy Swim Day School Community Education
Program-Pilot Project as a whole to ensure successful operation and continuity
of the pilot project according to program goals and mission,
2.
Working as a member of the TANF/ESDS Community Education team: recruiting,
advertising, communicating with families, building relationships with the
community, publicizing program and encouraging participation,
3.
Monitoring adult education rooms/computers while students work towards their
GED (General Education Development-Writing Skills, Social Studies, Science,
Literature and Math) or Employability Skills Training Program, etc.
4.
Maintaining adult education student files and data base,
5.
Administering and maintaining Employability Skills Training Program,
6.
Tracking attendance of GED students on TANF/Other Programs and provide monthly
report to the Community Education Director for delivery to the Temporary
Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Office,
7.
Assisting with development, research, and expansion of existing/new adult
education programs,
8.
Tutoring/remediating adult students, one on one or in
a classroom type setting, in writing, math and/or reading, or other as deemed
necessary,
9.
Creating/tracking/implementing and responsible for individual education plans
and lesson plans for all adult learners,
10.
Planning instruction that is consistent with the mission, vision, values,
standards and curriculum of the school,
11.
Integrating Dakota Culture within lessons and instruction with a multicultural
approach,
12.
Establishing clear learning objectives based on the standards provided by the
school for all students and subjects assigned,
13.
Implementing learning activities that make maximum use of academic learning
time and meet specific learning styles and needs of each student,
14.
Preparing and submitting written communication and reports when required,
15.
Implementing classroom management that provides for an organized and positive
classroom environment with clear rules and procedures,
16.
Supervising students in the classroom as well as all other areas of the school
campus and at school sponsored events, as directed,
17.
Participating in school, community, and cultural activities including annual
welcome wacipi, graduation wacipi,
and other activities as assigned,
18.
Participating in professional development meetings that are required for the
betterment of the school, self, and students, including staff meetings,
curriculum development, Teacher Assistance Teams, TANF/ESDS Community Education
Team Meetings, consolidated school reform planning and other pertinent
trainings,
19.
Maintaining inventory control on all supplies, materials and equipment in
assigned classrooms,
20.
Following all policies and standard operating procedures of the school
including the Code of Professional Ethics,
21. In absence of
Para-Educator or Community Education Director, maintains order and conducts
classroom activities according to a schedule,
22.
Creating Professional Portfolio,
23.
Assigning tasks, providing general guidance on procedures, techniques, school
policies, and regulations for the Para-Educator with priorities set by the
Community Education Director,
24.
And perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Education or other related field. Working knowledge of
computers and software programs
HOURS/SCHEDULE:
ESDS 9-month School Year Contract, and Adult
Education Summer Program Extra Duty Contract
