School Board Meeting

October 16th, 2007

Others Present:  Sherry Johnson, Deb Rumpza, Janell Bear Hill, Connie Sauer, Virginia Dolney, Delbert Hopkins, Jr.

 

 

I.                                      Call to Order/Establish Quorum

Quorum was established and Chairperson Ramona Bear Hill called the meeting to order at 5:05 pm.

Motion #1 by Evelyn Blacksmith to approve Ellen Danley as a substitute pending a successful background check.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

b.                                Resignation- Tammy Kindvall

Motion #2 by Darell Decoteau to accept the resignation of Tammy Kindvall with penalties according to policy.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

Motion #3 by Darell Decoteau to offer a teaching contract to Connie Sauer for middle school math.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

Motion #4 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois to advertise for a TANF Adult Education teacher.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

c.                                   Maternity leave – Amy Schulz

Motion #5 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois to approve the long-term leave of absence for the remainder of the school year for Amy Schulz.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

Motion #6 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois to enter into executive session.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

Motion #7 by Evelyn Blacksmith to come out of executive session.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

            a.  Approval of updated Student attendance

Motion #8 by Darell Decoteau to not approve the enrollment application of the new student.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

Motion #9 by Evelyn Blacksmith to enter into executive session.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

Motion #10 by Darell Decoteau to come out of executive session.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

Motion #11 by Evelyn Blacksmith to extend the probationary period of employee for 30 days.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

Motion #15 by Evelyn Blacksmith to approve student attendance at the SD Peer Helper Conference on November 2-3, 2007.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

2.                                                                                 Advertisement – long term sub

Motion #16 by Darell Decoteau to advertise for a long-term SpEd Para-Educator substitute and a childcare worker.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

3.                                                                                 MSgt. Woodrow Keeble

Motion #17 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois to name the school drive:  MSgt. Woodrow Keeble Drive.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

4.                                                                                 Fire Alarm Wiring – Day Care

Motion #18 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois to approve the fire alarm supply bid from Automatic Building Controls for $1,853.00 and the wiring bid from Muth Electric for $810.00.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

Reorganizational Meeting

 

            Call to order – Dr. Johnson

Superintendent Johnson called the reorganization meeting to order at 7:55 pm.

            Oath of Office-Janell Bear Hill

The Oath of Office was administer to new board member Janell Bear Hill.

 

            Nomination for Chairperson of the board.

Superintendent Johnson asked for nominations for Chairperson.

Ramona Bear Hill

Motion #1 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois that nominations cease.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

            Meeting turned over to new Chairperson.

 

 

            Nomination for Vice-Chairperson of the board.

Darell Decoteau

Motion #2 by Evelyn Blacksmith that nominations cease.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

            Appointment of the Recording Secretary.

Motion #3 by Darell Decoteau to appoint Deb Rumpza as the recording secretary.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

 

Appointment of the business depositories, Dacotah Bank, Edward Jones, Sisseton Wahpeton Federal Credit Union.

            Approval of Resolution 07-04 check signers for Dacotah Bank.

Motion #4 by Darell Decoteau to approve Resolution 07-04 for check signers.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.

Motion #5 by Darell Decoteau to set the depositories as Dacotah Bank, Edward Jones and Sisseton Wahpeton Federal Credit Union; Edward Jones checks signers as Ramona Bear Hill and Sherry Johnson; set the sub rates as $80.00 for school substitutes, $12.50 per hour for bus drivers, $8.00 per hour for Day Care; set board stipends as $75.00 for regular meetings, $50.00 for special meetings; set the mileage rate at $0.43.; per diem at $42.00 per day; training stipends at $150.00 per training day for board members and $80.00 per day for school staff; set the chain of command as Dr. Johnson, Virginia Dolney, Mary Ann Aker, Misty Comes.  Seconded.  Motion Carried.
