Special School Board Meeting Minutes

July 18, 2006 4:00 p.m.

I. Call to Order/Establish Quorum

Quorum was established and the meeting was called to order by Chairperson Ramona Bear Hill at 4:02 p.m.

II. Interviews for Nurse Position

A. Ruth Owens

B. Paula Bearman

C. Susan Daly

D. Monica Fischer

E. Nicole Kwasniewski

Motion #1 by Darell Decoteau to offer the part-time nurse position to Monica Fischer pending a successful background check. Ranking Nicole Kwasniewski and Paula Bearman second and third respectively. Seconded. 2 ayes, 1 opposed Motion Carried.

III. Other Business

A. Culture – NDS

Danny Seaboy could not attend this meeting he is traveling. The school board will meet with Danny on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 4:00 pm.

B. Training – Ed Johnson Floor Care Pierre, SD

Motion #2 by Darell Decoteau to approve training Ed Johnson in Pierre, SD on August 23-24, 2006. Seconded. Motion Carried.

C. Enemy Swim District Pow-wow

Motion #3 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois to set the Enemy Swim Day School Welcome Back Wacipi for September 1, 2006 to coincide with the Enemy Swim District Pow-wow. Seconded. Motion Carried.

D. FACE Policies

Clarification is needed on some of the proposed changes to the FACE policies. They will be reviewed again at the next Board Meeting.

E. After School Positions – Ivy Shepherd, Terra Williams, Allen Owen

Motion #4 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois to approve Ivy Shepherd, Terra Williams and Allen Owen for After School Group Leaders pending successful background checks. Seconded. Motion Carried.

F. Laptop Computers

Motion #5 by Lynn Halbert-DuBois to authorize the purchase of 12 laptop computers for Instructional Staff at a cost of approximately $850 each. Seconded. Motion Carried.

G. Master Degrees – Joan Biersbach, Amy Peckham

Motion #6 by Darell Decoteau to approve an incentive increase for Joan Biersbach obtaining her Master’s Degree and Amy Peckham pending submission of appropriate paperwork for obtaining her Master’s Degree. Seconded. Motion Carried.

IV. Adjournment

Chairperson Ramona Bear Hill declared the meeting adjourned at 6:47pm.
